2. Do all the events count towards the British Open National Championship?   Yes, but though you can compete in all 4 (or 5 in the case of an extra event) events, only your best 3 results  count towards your final score. This year all events are worth 500 points to the winner with no ‘Grand Slam’ event. (See point 9 below).

3. What is the prize for the Open Champions? Each event will have its own prize packages for the winners; however, the BBC will be again be awarding an additional £500 sponsorship prize to the Open National Tour Winner.

4. Who can compete? Anyone can enter any tour event (except the British Nationals which is only open to people who qualify to represent GB internationally under ISA rules). However, you can only accrue points towards the British Championship if you qualify to represent GB Internationally.

5. So what if a non-qualifying competitor places in an event? If a non qualifying competitor places in a competition, their points will be expunged from the records. Non-qualifying competitors can still win individual event prizes though.

6. Where can I see how many points are awarded for each place? There is a table elsewhere on the BBC website. This is in accordance with the IBA scoring system.

7. Will there be different divisions at all the events? We aim to integrate DK and Women’s events into each tour leg, as well as the Open. All the age divisions will be decided at the Nationals event as usual. The DK entries will be limited to 8 and the Women’s to 4 at each event (except the British Nationals) unless there is overwhelming demand; in which case the BBC may allow additional entries at its absolute discretion. The tour events will decide the Open, DK & Women’s National champions, with the proviso in point 9 applying.

8. Will there be future tour events in my area? If the tour works well and we have the financial backing, we will seek to expand into wider geographic areas in 2012.

9. What if I can’t make a particular event or one gets cancelled? If a competition does not take place the BBC will endeavour to provide a replacement. If this is not possible the BBC reserves the right to decide the champion on the basis of the events that have taken place. It is up to each rider to ensure that they compete in as many events as possible to maximise their chances of winning. Everyone starts with a level playing field. If one event does not take place it will be best 3 scoring events from 5 etc. In the event of a tie, the BBC will take competitor’s other highest scoring results into account.

10. Do I have to be a member of the BBC or SGB to compete? We encourage all competitors to join the BBC or SGB. Events run exclusively by the BBC require either full BBC or SGB membership, or temporary BBC competitor membership. The Open Champion and any other competitor appointed to represent GB may be required to purchase full SGB membership prior to representing GB internationally.
